The Ogun State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela has charged workers in the Ministry to be committed to the tenet of goal setting and pursuance of key performance indicators (KPI) in order to achieve success in 2024 fiscal year.
Sofela gave this admonition at the 2-day Management Retreat of the Ministry with the theme, "Repositioning the Ministry for success in the delivery of her mandate," which was declared open by the Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Peter Fagbohun in Abeokuta.
Thanking Governor Dapo Abiodun for his visionary leadership, he said the retreat underscored the collective resolve to adapt, innovate and excel in fulfilling the set goals, urging that the need to be proactive and creative cannot be over-emphasised.
"Despite working in a bureaucracy, we don't have to be bureaucratic. The most important KPIs for us include facilitation of investment and trade, creating jobs and we cannot but do things differently.
"When you don't have a goal, you don't have set target, you will not have any pursuit. This retreat is not a yearly ritual but an opportunity to learn and re-learn," the Commissioner said.
In her welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade, Mrs. Oluwayemisi Dawodu, said the retreat was premised on strategic planning, sharing and learning just as she expressed optimism that Ministry was out for a result-oriented year.
Also speaking, the host Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola, reiterated the need for enforcement to reduce illegal mining operations, pointing out that the ministry has been committed to motivate its staff for greater output.
The opening ceremony had in attendance the Head of Service, Mr. Fagbohun, Special Adviser to the Governor on Investment, Ms. Sola Arobieke,while Permanent Secretaries present included, Mr. Jola Oyeleye, Mr. Kehinde Oyeneye, and Mr. Oladipupo Ogunfowora.
A retired Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Adekunle Adegbite, Dr. Delphine Misan-Arenyeka, among others were the resource persons.
