The Chairman, Yewa North Local Government of Ogun State, Hon. Gabriel Ogunyomi, has procured some medical equipment such as, hospital mattresses and drugs, among others, as part of commitment to improve the wellness of the people and ensure healthier medical index.
Ogunyomi, who stated this during a maiden meeting with Primary Healthcare Leadership Initiative Officers in the council, said collaborative effort was critical in achieving quality primary healthcare services in the Local Government Area (LGA).
He said equipment procured by the council would soon be distributed to various Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs), noting that the present administration was committed to making its health facilities more functional to enable residents have access to affordable and qualitative health care services.
In his remarks, the Medical Officer of Health in the Local Government, Dr. Olumayowa Ogunsaya, said the effort were being geared towards solving challenges faced by the facilities, adding that supply of the equipment would aid effective job delivery by health workers.
Dr Ogunsaya appreciated the council boss for the construction of Imoto-Yewa Maternity Centre and the procurement of some equipment which were ready for distribution, according to requests from each health centre.
Speaking, the Facility Officers in Imasai and Isa Ope PHCs, Mrs. Cecilia Oke, Mr. Adeleye Amos and others, commended the Chairman for providing necessary working tools at different centres since his assumption of office, appealing for provision of more infrastructure.
