The responsibilities of the Department include:

1. Implement the state government's IT policy across MDAs.
2. Facilitate rapid development of IT and physical infrastructure across the MDAs
3. Coordinate the design, development, documentation, and deployment of in-house enterprise software for MDAs.
4. Provide helpdesk/support services for MDAs on software issues.
5. Perform supervisory and advisory functions on software issues for MDAs.
6. Develop, test, and evaluate software as needed.
7. Ensure third-party solutions deployed for MDAs comply with global IT standards and specified requirements.
8. Investigate computer security intrusions.
9. Conduct research in relevant IT areas to enhance MDA activities.
10. Periodically monitor and evaluate ICT projects.
